Sunshine Coast Fishing Report 9 August 2024

Sunshine Coast Fishing Report | Friday 16 August 2024

Welcome to this week's Sunshine Coast Fishing Report. The past week has seen heavy rainfall, which has kept many anglers off the water. We’re in for another week of mixed weather on the Sunshine Coast, with showers and varying wind conditions forecasted. For estuary anglers, the best opportunities will be in the early mornings, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday, when the winds are expected to calm down. Offshore conditions remain challenging, with strong winds and rough seas throughout the week, although there may be a brief window of better conditions midweek. Be sure to keep an eye on the forecast and plan your trips accordingly.

Offshore

Offshore fishing has been limited due to poor weather over the past week. With the Snapper and Pearl Perch closure now over and a nicer weekend ahead, trips may become more rewarding. Keep an eye on conditions as they improve, and be prepared to take advantage of any good weather windows.

Estuary

The Noosa River has been quiet over the past week thanks to the weather, but some Bream and Whiting have been reported, along with continued Trevally catches. Mud crabs have also been on the move thanks to the recent rain.

The Maroochy River has also been quiet, however those who braved the rain reported catches of Tailor and Trevally at the Cod Hole. Some nice Flathead have been reported in the middle to upper reaches, with Bream continuing to be caught throughout.

In keeping with the trend, Caloundra has also been quiet, with a few Bream, Tailor, Flathead and Whiting reported over the past week.
