Sunshine Coast Fishing Report | Friday 21 June 2024

Welcome to this week's Sunshine Coast Fishing Report. We've enjoyed another week of mint conditions, with cool, clear days resulting in some great fishing. The weekend will see some big tides thanks to Saturday's full moon. The weekend isn't looking great for offshore fishos, but should improve by early next week. Conditions look great for land-based fishos however, with cool, clear days set to continue. We are expecting rain late next week, so make sure you get in and enjoy the weather while you can!

Offshore

There have been great catches of mixed reef fish this week, with Snapper, Pearl Perch, Tuskfish and Sweetlip in abundance. Snapper are now widespread, along with plenty of Pearl Perch out wide. Those fishing closer to shore have reported a mix of Snapper and a few Grassy Sweetlip. If you're heading to the Sunshine Coast over the school holidays and looking to book a charter, we recommend Deep End Fishing Charters and Smithy's Fishing Charters

Noosa

The Noosa River has been fishing well over the past week, with reports of Bream, Grunter Bream and Flathead. The Tewantin stretch has been busy, with some nice size Flathead being caught. If you're chasing Tailor, try the mouth and towards the mid-reaches, with Whiting also on the chew along that stretch.

Maroochy

The Maroochy River has seen good activity with Bream and Grunter Bream throughout. Trevally and Queenfish are being caught along the Bli Bli reach, with some nice models caught around the Cod Hole on paddle tails, jigs and vibes. We've had numerous reports of lots of small Flathead being caught and released, along with some decent sizes around the 59cm mark. Water clarity has greatly improved.

With freshwater fishing slow due to the cold, Taj instead put in a few hours at the Bli Bli Barra Park, catching 4 90cm+ Barramundi.  Credit: @tajs_fishing_adventures on Instagram

Caloundra

Those on the hunt for Whiting and Jewfish have found Caloundra to be the pick of the spots this week, with plenty of good sized fish caught along the beaches. Beach fishos have also reported Tailor and Dart, while those fishing the passage have caught Flathead and Bream in good numbers.

With School Holidays starting tomorrow, our local fishing spots will no doubt be busy, so remember to be patient! There's plenty of beautiful coastline for everyone! If you're struggling to find a quiet spot, make sure you drop in and see us a 3/99 Aerodrome Road, Maroochydore (opposite Aldi) for some local intel! We pride ourselves on having the best and freshest bait options on the Sunshine Coast!

Tight lines,
